There are a number of indicators. If you are metered you may have received a higher than normal bill with no reasonable explanation why. You can check by looking at your meter when there is no water being used. If it’s moving it indicates a leak or loss. Some leaks are audible and you may experience a rushing noise or a sound like a cistern continually filling. The leak may cause reduced flow or pressure. There may be water visible somewhere on the property where it hasn’t shown before. Finally, you may have been issued a “leakage notice” by your water supplier.
